Theft suspect said he wanted to ‘take from people who had a lot’ | News

A former employee of a contracting company said he returned to a house with “a lot of nice things” because he wanted to “get something from people who have a lot,” according to a complaint filed by a magistrate judge in the Supreme Court.

However, the complaint stated that Allen Jesse Chaco Charfauros’ plan was foiled when he entered through the bathroom window and was chased by the homeowner.

Charfauros, 29, was charged Wednesday with burglary, a second-degree felony.

While escaping from home, he got into a silver vehicle that the owner of the house took a photo of. Police used the license plate number to track down Charfauros, who said he was unemployed and had a newborn baby.

He said he was in the area, remembered the house, and got the idea that he could steal from the people living there.

If convicted of the crime, Charfauros faces eight years in prison.

He was released Wednesday on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
