During the by-elections to nine seats in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party accused cops in many places of threatening voters. Taking into consideration the SP’s complaints, the Election Commission suspended seven police officers. According to the information obtained, two inspectors Arun Singh and Rakesh Nadar in Sisamau have been suspended. They are accused of misbehaving with voters and violating the Election Commission’s guidelines.

Five police officers suspended in Kanpur

Regarding the suspension of five police officers, Kanpur Police Commissioner Akhil Kumar said that we have received information that some policemen are not following the Election Commission’s guidelines. “We have received information that some police personnel did not comply with EC guidelines. Action has been taken against them… Voting is continuing smoothly. We have received information that outsiders have entered the constituency. Necessary security arrangements have been made. accordingly… Suspension, tweet (by Samajwadi Party) It was done after we noticed…” Kanpur Police Commissioner Akhil Kumar said.

SP chief Akhilesh tweeted, “We appeal to all the voters whose voting was stopped earlier, to go and try to vote again. After speaking to the Chief Election Commissioner of the country, Shri Rajiv Kumar Ji, on the basis of video and Photographic evidence, corrupt and biased police officers have been suspended and reinstated.” The remaining guilty officers will be suspended. Therefore, all voters who queued before the 5 pm deadline should go without fear and will be allowed to vote from noon to 5 pm. You have to wait in the queue and cast your vote.”

SP candidate demanded cancellation of the election

At the same time, SP candidate Haji Rizwan also demanded cancellation of the Kundarki by-election. Alleging that the elections were rigged, Haji Rizwan requested the Election Commission to cancel the elections.

Election Commission ordered action

Taking notice of SP complaints on social media that some communities were prevented from voting during the by-election, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar issued strict instructions to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh and all District Electoral Officers and Returning Officers. Ensuring a fair and smooth voting process.

Authorities have been told to take immediate notice of all complaints, take immediate action and also notify the complainant by tagging them through social media. They were warned that no voters should be prevented from voting and that any partisan attitudes would not be tolerated. Election officials have been told that if anyone who receives a complaint is found guilty, harsh sanctions must be taken against them, officials said.
