Woman accused after altercation at North Royalton school bus stop expected to appear in court

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio (WOIO) – A 46-year-old North Royalton woman charged with assault following an altercation at a school bus stop is scheduled to be arraigned in Parma Municipal Court on Wednesday.

Sara Jones claimed she was the victim during the Nov. 1 encounter at the bus stop at State Route 82 and Woodcroft Trace.

Jones told North Royalton police that a man who was waiting in his truck for his son to get off the school bus physically attacked him.

“He said, ‘Don’t touch my truck again,’ and then he knocked on his door at me. ‘I’m going to stab you in the neck,’ Jones said.

But the unidentified man in the truck, along with several eyewitnesses, told police a very different story.

“He tried to hit me and hit my phone,” the man said. “I didn’t know what he was trying to do.”

Jones said he couldn’t see when the bus arrived because of the other parent’s truck.

“He slapped me this way, he slapped me that way,” Jones told police.

“He came at me three times and for the last time I said, ‘It’s over now.’ I’m calling the police,’” said another parent.

Jones went to North Royalton Police Headquarters the next day to sign his ticket and get fingerprinted.

While at the station, the video showed Jones challenging and berating officers because he was the only person charged.

The unidentified man was not charged because police said witnesses supported his story that he was defending himself.
