Daytime theft in Devakottai; Approximately 50 gold coins were stolen from the teacher couple

In a daring incident, at least 50 gold ornaments were stolen from the locked house of a teacher couple in Ram Nagar within the limits of Devakottai Town police station on Wednesday.

Police said Sanjeevi Gnanasekar (58) and his wife Jayarani were working as teachers in different schools. Their daughter worked in the Post Office.

While all three were leaving for work on Wednesday morning, unidentified people broke into their homes and seized valuables.

They were shocked to see that their house was burglarized during the day.

Deputy Chief of Police T. Parthiban visited the scene of the incident. Forensic experts and a search dog were pressed into service.

The actual amount of goods lost has not yet been determined.
