13-year-old boy died and his father was injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Washington

A 13-year-old boy was killed and his father was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on a Washington state highway over the weekend.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) announced that the child was identified as Zion Powers. Spokesman-Review, Moscow-Pullman News and radio station KXLY.

Authorities said the five-vehicle crash occurred Saturday, Nov. 16, on U.S. Highway 195 three miles north of Rosalia, according to the CBS affiliate. CREAM.

WSP said Stephen Powers was driving southbound when he lost control of his semi-truck and trailer due to icy conditions. Powers’ vehicle was then attacked with a pocket knife in the northbound lane. Spokesman-Review reported.

According to the press, Stephen Bischoff, who was driving a Mazda CX-50 with his son Zion, was first pushed into another lane and hit two other vehicles. The truck also hit a truck parked on the side of the highway.

WSP reported that Zion, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, KXLY and Spokesman-Review reported. Stephen, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, was taken to the same hospital for treatment before being released.

A. GoFundMe It was created in the name of the Bischoff family. Paige Wieser, organizer of the online campaign, wrote: “Zion’s tragic loss due to an automobile accident shakes us deeply and is felt throughout our community.”

He added: “He was known to many people and easily made anyone feel like their best friend, regardless of age.”

As of Wednesday, the campaign had raised over $116,000.

Additionally, the Washington State University football team pays tribute to Zion by wearing “ZB” on players’ helmets. CREAM reported.
