Three people were arrested while the bus terminal was evacuated due to ‘potentially suspicious substance’

While the bomb squad was called upon a report of “potential suspicious substance”, three people were arrested and a bus stop was evacuated.

Police Scotland said Buchanan Coach Station in Glasgow city center was closed at around 1.10pm on Wednesday “following a report of a potentially suspicious substance” and the Navy bomb squad was alerted.

Police said: “Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, which was reported at Buchanan Coach Station in Glasgow at around 1.10pm today.

“EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) is on scene and investigations are ongoing.”

Large cordons were formed while the streets around the bus terminal were closed.

Police warned the public to stay away from the area.
