Doctor pleads guilty to federal charge in connection with FBI investigations near Troy in downtown Dayton

The Miami County doctor charged in connection with a days-long FBI investigation in Troy and downtown Dayton earlier this year appeared in federal court Wednesday.

Steven Werling, 54, pleaded guilty to one federal charge, according to U.S. District Court records for the Southern District of Ohio.

The charge to which he pleaded guilty was filed under seal and was not immediately known. News Center 7 has reached out to the Department of Justice for information on the charge and the plea agreement.

According to an earlier report from News Center 7, Werling was facing a federal weapons charge.

The FBI and Miami County Sheriff’s Office searched Werling’s home on Barnhart Road in Concord Township in early April. The neighborhood was closed for two days as part of the investigation.

Court records show investigators found explosive components and devices in.

Prosecutors have previously said investigators found something. The unregistered silencer in Werling’s house and claimed to have the components to build more.

It was Werling R.removed from federal custody On April 17, at his own discretion.

As previously reported by News Center 7, Werling’s charge of possession of a dangerous ordinance was dismissed in Miami District Court, with his case transferred to federal court.
