Elderly man accused of killing roommate and dog

AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) – Police say an elderly man in Austin who killed his roommate and their dog, stole their credit cards and planned to flee the country has been arrested.

Jack Moore, 84, is charged with 1st degree murder.

On Nov. 18, around 1:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive for a report of a person dead, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, police said they found a dead person, later identified as Linda Mlsna, and a dead dog inside the home.

Police said the investigation revealed that Mlsna’s roommate, Moore, was not home and his location was unknown.

According to police, it was discovered that Moore had committed fraud using MLSNA’s credit cards after his death.

Authorities located Moore and arrested him on an unrelated warrant.

While interviewing Moore, police said he admitted killing Mlsna and her dog, taking her credit cards and planning to flee the country.

Moore is being held in the Travis County Jail. He currently has no set affiliation.
