2 dead in murder-suicide in Kingsland

Two people have died following a murder-suicide in Kingsland on Tuesday night.

Llano County The Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred Nov. 19 at a home on Skyline Drive near Ridgeway Avenue.

Deputies were called to a home on Skyline Drive due to multiple shots fired. The woman who called said that she locked herself in the house with her 4-year-old daughter. She believed her friend may have been shot by her ex-boyfriend, Jon Deron Kendrick.

When the first deputies arrived, they immediately heard two gunshots coming from the front yard of the home. The deputy could not see any movement in the yard because of the trees and it was dark outside.

Law enforcement attempted to contact Kendrick. When that didn’t work, officers went toward the home and found two men dead on the front porch. Both with gunshot wounds.

One of the men was identified as 35-year-old Jon Kendrick. Kingsland.

The name of the other man who died will not be released until his relatives are notified.

The woman and her child were found unarmed in the house.

“We heard some gunshots around 6:10, but we didn’t know what it was because it’s so common in this area,” Elizabeth Lemon told FOX 7 Austin in Spanish. he said.

He was going to pick up his daughter from school.

“When we came back we saw that many streets were closed and there were police, and we didn’t know what was going on,” he said.

“Suddenly you hear gunshots and wonder what happened?” said Dalia Ixek, speaking to FOX 7 Austin in Spanish. He also lives nearby. “And kids can’t be outside anymore because something could happen to them and you wouldn’t know what to do.”

Parents, and especially neighborhood kids, say this will be in the back of their minds when they leave school from now on.

“This scares me because what if one day my mom can’t pick me up and I have to walk alone?” said neighborhood boy Genesis Xagada.

The sheriff’s office was not available for an interview Wednesday.

They said they haven’t closed the investigation yet because they want to make sure no one else is involved first.
