The Miss Grand International Organization (MGI) has released its side of the former Indian license holder‘s recent decision to part ways with the global competition organizer.

In a statement posted on social media on Thursday (November 21), MGI said it has decided to sever ties with Glamanand Supermodel India, the organizer of the Miss Grand India pageant, due to a breach of the partnership agreement between the two parties.

Indian queen Rachel Gupta claimed the South Asian country’s first Miss Grand International victory in the latest staging of the global pageant in Thailand last month.

The international competition organization said Glamanand had been negligent in its license fee payments and that “final payments were made only a month before the final event”.

Another violation noted by MGI was the appointment of the top runner-up as Miss Grand India in 2022 and not the top winner of the national pageant, which was also postponed. The organization added that then-queen Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was “already on her way to Delhi airport.”

MGI also said that Glamanand’s representation and promotion of the international brand was inadequate and “failed to meet the standards expected by MGI”.

In his statement previously published on social media, Glamanand Pres. Nikhil Anand said that he parted ways with MGI because their “vision and goals are different at the moment”.

MGI said it had “decided not to renew its contracts after 2025. A new licensee will be announced in the near future.”
