Internet needs to be shut down for security reasons: Shaza Fatima

Addressing the media, Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima emphasized the importance of complying with the instructions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on matters related to security, law and order.

Fatima emphasized that maintaining law and order and ensuring security in the country is of great importance. He also explained that efforts are continuing to minimize internet outages, aiming to provide reliable, fast internet access to the public 24 hours a day.

Fatima announced that four new subsea cables with data transmission have been laid, starting from China, and this will significantly improve the country’s internet infrastructure.

He also underlined the role of digital infrastructure in economic growth, noting that countries with strong export markets tend to have better internet connectivity.

Fatima assured that every effort will be made to ensure that the IT sector is not affected by possible disruptions in internet services.
