The Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt arraigned Timba alias Savoir Robort on two counts of cultism and attempted murder.

According to court documents, Robort and members of his cult gang allegedly ambushed Ogoni People Conscience leader, Chief Gani Topba, while he was returning from Zaakpo community in Khana Local Government Area on March 12, 2023. Topba was shot multiple times and was knocked unconscious.

At the hearing on Thursday, Robort did not accept the accusations.

His lawyer applied for bail, but Deputy Prosecutor Kıymet Ordu from the Rivers State Ministry of Justice opposed the application.

The trial Judge, Justice Augusta Chukwu, adjourned the case to February 5 and 18, 2025 for hearing on bail application and possible arraignment.

Meanwhile, in a related development, two others, Deele Akpobari (aka Bob Satan) and another suspect, are also on trial for alleged cultism and attempted murder of Chief Gani Topba.

The Rivers State government has taken over the prosecution of two of the cases, while the third is pending pending information from the Ministry of Public Prosecutions.
