A theft on Monroe Avenue leads to a chase for the stolen car; Two people are in custody

ROCHESTER, NY — A burglary at a business on Monroe Avenue near I-490 on Thursday led to a police chase in a stolen car, injuring one officer and taking two people into custody.

Rochester Police said they responded to the burglary around 5 a.m. and located the suspects getting into a car. While trying to catch the driver, a police officer sped away while leaning against the car. The slightly injured police officer was taken to hospital.

RPD said the suspects abandoned the car on Southern Boulevard after a short chase. That’s where cops detained a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s.

Police said the car had been reported stolen from Greece and a criminal investigation was ongoing. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw police officers removing items from the car.
