We scoured Hotlanta and found seven obsessed couples to photograph here. Winter 2024 issue and asked them how they met, how long they had been together, and what exactly made their relationship work. What will be our takeaway after chatting with these lovebirds? We have more evidence that true love really exists.

Forrest, 36, photographer, interior designer and tattoo artist; Michelle, 33,artist

Years spent together: 11

Michelle: I noticed him during our first class at the University of Georgia.

Forrest: We both changed our major to photography at the same time.

Michelle: And he was in every lesson I took from then on; even in courses that are not our major.

Forrest: But the official meeting took place when he saw that Michelle had not had lunch. He would sit outside. So I brought him a sandwich.

Michelle: So I thought: OK, follower…

Years spent together: 2

Brandi: We would work out together at the gym.

Britt: His best friend was our coach.

Brandi: As I walked around him and discovered his personality, I saw what a real person he was.

Britt: And I loved his energy. I also liked that it was a 9 to 5 and not in the nightlife scene, so that was different for me.

Sylvia: I invited him to see Hippie Sabotage. He didn’t know who they were.

– Nate: I knew who they were!

Sylvia: Oh, did you?

– Nate: I knew like two songs.

Sylvia: Anyone who can have a good time and let loose at a concert is really attractive to me.

Jeremiah: When I first tried to shout, he turned me away.

Nikkia: He was a strange person.

Jeremiah: I was weak. I didn’t have a tattoo. It didn’t work for me. For this reason.

Nikkia: This is not the reason! He was a basketball player and he had an ego. I didn’t like it. But then he humbled himself.

Jeremiah: No, I grew up. I started working. I have tattoos….

Nikkia: Maybe your confidence has changed. Now don’t put this on me.

Zakiyrah: We’ll go out for drinks after this.

– Trey: Date night.

Zakiyrah: We host a date night once a week. It is non-negotiable.

– Trey: We also do a separate marriage sync on a weekly basis.

Zakiyrah: It’s when we catch up on any problems or challenges we may be facing and talk about finances, upcoming activities, household needs, and anything else.

Michael: I like to say it was love at first sight.

Alexandra: On the hinge.

Michael: I moved here at the beginning of the pandemic and was too afraid to go out and meet people because of my job. I was considering leaving Atlanta once I got comfortable, but decided to go on one more date to see what would happen. And it was Alex.

Alexandra: We are getting married on March 29th.

-Charles: We met at my mom’s best friend’s family barbecue.

-Dee: I went to hairdressing school with her daughter.

-Charles: He met my mother first!

-Dee: I saw him early that night and thought: Oh, he’s good. I hope I catch him again. Then his mother said, “I will call my son,” and it turned out that it was him.
