Man charged with capital murder in Montgomery baby’s death

MONTGOMERY, Ala.(WSFA) – The Montgomery Police Department confirms a suspect has been arrested and charged with capital murder following the death of a child. Johnnie Taylor Sr., 23, of Montgomery. He was detained on Wednesday.

MPD said it became aware of the boy’s injuries after he was transported to a hospital in Birmingham with life-threatening injuries on Nov. 7. The victim died from his injuries on November 10.

Investigators did not disclose the child’s cause of death, but said it was determined to be a homicide based on evidence found during the autopsy.

It’s unclear what kind of relationship Taylor and the child have. The suspect is being held without bail at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
