Himachal government grants license to HPMC to set up winery in Parala of Theog

Chief Minister (CM) Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “HPMC will set up a winery at Parala in Theog district of Shimla district.”

The state government has granted license to Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) to set up winery in Parala of Theog.

Chief Minister (CM) Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said: “HPMC will set up a winery at Parala in Theog district of Shimla district. Winery to be built at estimated cost 86 crore is expected to boost the horticulture sector of the state and create new employment opportunities for local people.”

He said that this initiative will significantly benefit fruit growers in Himachal Pradesh by offering better and more profitable prices for their produce, especially apples, peaches and plums. “The winery in Parala represents a major step in providing added value to horticultural products and not only ensures economic empowerment of growers but also enhances the state’s reputation as a hub for quality fruit-based products,” Sukhu said.

He also added that the project is in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening the horticulture and agriculture sectors by promoting modern infrastructure and innovative solutions. In addition to increasing revenue, the winery was expected to create numerous direct and indirect job opportunities in production, processing, marketing and related industries. “The state government continues to focus on initiatives that increase the income of farmers and gardeners, enabling sustainable growth and development in rural areas of the state,” he added.

“The state was also known as the ‘Fruit Bowl of the Country’ and the government was actively promoting the establishment of processing units, taking advantage of the abundant availability of raw materials in the state,” Sukhu said. he said.
