MIAMI – A 24-year-old man was returning his ex-girlfriend’s belongings in Miami on Sunday when he hit her and dragged her to his car, pushed her into the street and tried to run over her, police said.

On Wednesday morning, the woman told officers that Samuel Peña had returned. She reported that while she was walking her dogs near Little River, she and her son followed in a silver 2012 Hyundai.

Police officers located Peña, stopped him, and arrested him near Northeast 77 Street and Fourth Court. Miami-Dade corrections officers arrested him Wednesday afternoon.

Peña appeared in Miami-Dade court on Thursday, and the judge denied his request for bail. He was facing charges of aggravated battery with infliction of great bodily harm and kidnapping.
