OPD: Owensboro man arrested on 101 child porn-related charges

A 34-year-old Owensboro man has been charged with 101 counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to OPDAn Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force detective from the OPD Criminal Investigation Division received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding child sexual exploitation materials.

The investigation led to the execution of multiple search warrants identifying Ryan Greer as a possible suspect, according to the statement. On November 11, OPD patrol officers located Greer, who had an outstanding but unrelated arrest warrant. According to the statement, during this arrest, evidence related to the ongoing ICAC investigation was seized for analysis.

On Nov. 14, detectives and patrol officers found Greer in the 1400 block of Triplett Street, according to OPD. He was charged with various crimes related to the initial investigation, and additional evidence was also seized at that time.

On Nov. 21, Greer received numerous additional charges after completing a forensic analysis of the most recently seized evidence, the statement said.

According to OPD, Greer was arrested and booked into the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:

• Distribution of the Article Describing Sexual Performance of Minors Under the Age of 12 (1 issue)
• Possession or Viewing of Material Depicting Sexual Performances by a Person Under 12 Years of Age (1 count)
• Unlawful use of electronic means originating from or received from the Commonwealth for the purpose of soliciting a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities (10 counts).
• Promoting Sexual Performance by a Minor Under 16 (10 counts)
• Distribution of Article Describing Sexual Performance of a Child Under 12 Years of Age (4 issues)
• Possession or Viewing of Material Depiction of Sexual Performances by a Person 12 Years of Age or Older (3 counts)
• Possession or Viewing of Material Depicting Sexual Performances by a Person Under 12 Years of Age (61 counts)
• Distribution of Item Describing Sexual Performance by People 12 Years Old and Older (1 issue)
• Distribution of the Article Describing Sexual Performance of Minors Under the Age of 12 (1 issue)
• Distribution of Obscene Substance to Minors 1st Crime (9 counts)

The statement states that this is an ongoing investigation and may result in the identification of other perpetrators or additional charges.
