Muppet Vision 3D Is Closing, Devastating Fans – But Its Stars Will Be Moving to a New Disney Journey

Disney Studios’ Muppets are preparing to take their final bow.

Disney announced on Friday, November 22 that one of its most beloved attractions, Jim Henson’s Muppet*Vision 3D, will be closing to make way for a new game. Monsters Inc.themed land.

The thrilling ride is currently hosted by and features music by Aerosmith, as it has since it opened in 1999. It was recently closed for renovations from January to June 2024, but reopened in much the same way.

“We know many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy would fit this train perfectly,” Parks’ blog post continues. “Plus, as this is the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets, there will definitely be laughs, screams and new tunes for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure, and there will be plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard!”

Disney hasn’t announced Muppet*Vision’s closing date, but said there’s “plenty of time” left to watch the show one last time. It will most likely happen in 2025, as the company previously shared that it was working on the new technology last summer. Monsters Inc. the land is “scheduled to start next year.”

The fate of other tenants, including Mama Melrose and Pizza Rizzo, in the area now known as Animation Courtyard where Muppet*Vision is located, was not addressed by the blog.
