Storm Bert: West Bromwich Christmas lights switch-on canceled for safety reasons

It is estimated that the storm will hit the region tomorrow (Saturday). West Bromwich The Business Improvement District (BID) announced that the event has been cancelled.

BID shared the following on social media: “We regret to inform you all that our much-anticipated Christmas lights switch-on for 2024 has been canceled due to the weather conditions predicted for tomorrow.

“Storm Bert is unfortunately against us and the safety of staff and the public comes first. As you can imagine everyone at BID is very disappointed and with all the hard work put in to make this a successful event every year.”

“We can only apologize, but this is completely out of our control.”

The artists were to provide entertainment with the band Damage, who pushed the very important button this evening.

Unlike the Tettenhall Christmas Lights event hosted by Storm Bert also hindered progressThe West Bromwich event will not be postponed, it will be canceled altogether.

A BID spokesperson added: “We will not be rescheduling the Christmas lights switch-on until 2024. You can be assured that we will have two more Christmas Events in December: Friday 6 December, 5pm – 7pm, on the hour at the event venue in Carter’s Green and New Square Shopping Center , Saturday, December 21, between 11:00 – 16:00.”
