“I think it’s an emotional process to dive into characters going through a journey like this,” Slater added. “It’s been a really long and intense process. When you do this, you really connect with the people around you.

Although Slater He is in a relationship with Grande for over a year, the “Love Me Harder” singer and harriet actor “sort of like that soulmates.”

“Their friendship is really real, really deep and really inspired by the work they do together. “I think they’ll talk about it and think about it while they’re still in the middle of it,” he said.

Slater admitted to crying himself as he sat down with the press to talk about the film. She thought back to a moment when she was with her co-star Marissa Bode, who played Elphaba’s younger sister and was the first actor to use a wheelchair to play the role.

She said she began to burst into tears when the interviewer touched on a comment made about Bode.

“One of the comments said: ‘Marissa, you are an inspiration. ‘I’m a wheelchair user who always wanted to be an actor, and seeing you do it makes me feel like I can follow my dreams.’ “In addition to her beautiful performance in the film, the importance of representation was truly moving,” said Slater.

“It’s great to be a part of this story with him and see the impact he’s had. “It’s an honor.”
