Miami Police arrest man who sexually assaulted 71-year-old woman – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI (WSVN) – A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 71-year-old woman in Miami, police said.

Leon Alonzo Norman faces charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and battery on a person 65 or older, according to the Miami Police Department Special Victims Unit.

Police said the attack happened just after 3:30 a.m. Thursday near Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital.

Police teams were alerted after a citizen reported a woman who claimed to have been raped.

The victim told police that an unidentified man grabbed her arm, forcibly removed her underwear and sexually assaulted her. Authorities said that eyewitnesses also confirmed this claim.

Officers quickly released a description of the suspect, leading to Norman’s arrest.

Detectives also obtained video footage corroborating the victim’s and witnesses’ statements, police said.
