CLARENDON, Jamaica — While just under 40 percent of voters in Clarendon’s Aenon Town Division went to the polls at 2 p.m., two Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) heavyweights, Edmond Bartlett and General Secretary Dr. Horace Chang are confident that this will be achieved. It is a sign of victory for the candidates.

According to Bartlett, the atmosphere is conducive and JLP supporters are excited to take to the stage for their candidate Suzette Barton.

“As we moved, there was a very interesting energy throughout the region. “The pattern of voting is specific to byelections, but I’m starting to see increases and what’s very clear is that JLP supporters are coming out to vote and they’re very joyful and very excited about supporting their candidate,” Bartlett said. Online Observer The numbers encourage him.

“We are not saying that our candidate should win, as the other side says. We say that our candidate will win because of the numbers we calculated. And as you may have noticed, when I’m walking around, I’m not just looking at the profile, I’m trying to get a number. Winning numbers. “The election is a numbers game,” Bartlett added.

Meanwhile, Chang said the turnout so far represents a normal local government election.

“This Aenon Town election is a real election… Turnout continues like a normal election. We’re over 20 percent at this hour (well before 2 p.m.). So they should do what is considered normal district council election turnout,” Chang said.

The senior JLP campaign strategist said he expected the JLP to retain the seat once the votes were counted this evening.

“I am satisfied with the operation… I do not see any difficulties. Both sides were eliminated but I am confident that my team did a good job and we expect a good result this afternoon,” Chang added.

He argued that JLP supporters admired former councilor Majorie McLeod-McFarlane, who died this year, and that this had encouraged them to vote JLP.

“They have great love for the deceased island. There are people who show up just because they respect him. I feel good about tonight’s result,” added Chang, who expects the party’s candidate, Suzette Barton, to defeat the PNP’s Delroy Dawson.
