Conor McGregor found liable in rape and assault case; victim was rewarded with a six-figure sum

NEW DELHI: Conor McGregoran old one mixed martial arts The fighter was found responsible for the attack by a civil court jury in Dublin, Ireland.
Plaintiff Nikita Hand claimed McGregor “brutally raped and assaulted” her on the rooftop of a Dublin hotel in December 2018. The jury awarded Hand approximately 250,000 euros ($257,000) in damages.
Hand stated that the attack left him seriously injured and that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Although she refused, she claimed McGregor pressured her and threatened to kill her during the encounter. McGregor denied the allegations and stated that they had consensual sex.
At trial, Hand’s attorney portrayed McGregor as a “coward” who took his anger out on him, while McGregor’s defense team argued that Hand fabricated the allegations for financial gain.
The jury of eight women and four men deliberated for nearly six hours before finding McGregor responsible for the attack. McGregor expressed his intention to appeal the decision and the “modest award”.
Hand expressed relief at the result and stated that he could now move on with his life. He thanked his supporters, especially his daughter, for giving him the strength and courage to pursue justice.
“The last six years have given me so much strength and courage to continue to push for justice throughout this nightmare,” he said. “I want to show her and all the other boys and girls that if something happens to you, no matter who the person is, you can defend yourself and justice will be served.”
