It is learned that a notice file was pending with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who cleared the matter on Friday, following which the notice was issued.

The state election commission has already announced the revision program of voter rolls. Elections to Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara municipal corporations and various municipal councils were postponed for two-three years.

After the claims and objections are resolved by December 3, the final publication of the voter rolls will be completed on December 7.

Recently, while hearing a petition challenging the Punjab government’s high court order asking the state to announce its election schedule within 15 days, the Supreme Court had directed Punjab to notify municipal elections in the state within two weeks and complete the entire process within eight weeks. notification.
