Semmes man faces assault charge after allegedly pepper spraying and shooting another man

SEMMES, Ala. (WALA) – A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 5 for a Semmes man facing assault charges following a shooting that left another man injured Tuesday.

Jail records show Turon Rashad McNutt, 59, was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on Thursday and released the same day.

According to Semmes Police Chief Todd Friend, officers responded to Brooklyn Way North and found a man shot in the upper left thigh. According to investigators, the victim had gone home with his girlfriend, who was McNutt’s stepdaughter.

While McNutt was sitting in his vehicle and in the driveway, the two men argued and the victim stood by the driver’s side window, authorities said. McNutt allegedly pepper-sprayed the victim and then shot him in the leg from inside the vehicle.

The injured person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

McNutt is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, according to jail records.
