Tawau police catch unemployed man who raped 14-year-old boy

KOTA KINABALU: An unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old girlfriend in Tawau district on the east coast of Sabah.

The 23-year-old suspect was caught by the police on Thursday, November 21.

Tawau police chief Deputy Commissioner Jasmin Hussin said the arrest was made following a report submitted by the girl’s mother the previous day.

According to their investigations, the suspect lived in the same house with the victim in Balung, the official said, adding that the incident occurred on November 16.

In his statement on Friday, November 22, he said, “The mother made a report after her daughter told her about the (alleged) incident.”

He said the suspect was being investigated under Section 376(1) of the Criminal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017.

ACP Jasmin advised the public, especially parents, not to leave their children unattended around strangers.
