Suspect in Murder of Maryland Woman Arrested in North Carolina

Leland, NC – Raheem Hawkins-Boseman, 23, of Silver Spring, was arrested for the murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville following a citizen’s tip. With the help of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service, he was captured late Wednesday night in Leland, North Carolina.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on March 17 as police officers responded to a shooting on Silver Hill Road. Somerville was found with a gunshot wound outside a business and was pronounced dead at the scene. An arrest warrant was issued for Hawkins-Boseman by the Prince George’s County Police Department on March 19.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Hawkins-Boseman followed Somerville from a fast food restaurant and shot him during a parking lot fight. It was determined that the suspect and the victim did not know each other before the encounter.

Hawkins-Boseman is charged with first- and second-degree murder, among others. He is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. Authorities are asking anyone with further information about the incident to contact H.
