Taoiseach Simon Harris said he spoke to Ms Hand, a hair colourist from Drimnagh, who said it had led to an increase in the number of women coming forward to ask for support.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Mr Harris said he told Ms Hand about the support she had received from people all over Ireland.

‘I spoke to Nikita today and wanted to thank him for his incredible bravery and bravery,’ he said.

‘I wanted to make sure he knew how much solidarity and support there was across this country for his bravery.

McGregor nodded after the jury read that Hand had won his case against him.

He was accompanied by his family, including his partner Dee Devlin, his parents, sister and brother-in-law.

The lawsuit, filed on November 5, had previously heard that on the day of the attack, Ms Hand and her colleague Danielle Kealy went to the penthouse suite with McGregor and Lawrence after a work Christmas party.

They testified that they had been partying all night from December 8 to the morning of December 9 and had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and cocaine.

Hand, a mother-of-one, told the court how McGregor pinned her to the bed in the hotel bedroom before attacking her.

Hand told the court he thought he would never see his young daughter again as the MMA star ‘choked’ her.

The court heard he was ‘frozen, unable to move and unable to breathe’ when he was attacked.

She said she put both hands up and tried to move away from him, but the more she struggled, the more she liked it.

‘The only thing I could move was my head. I bit him but I don’t remember where. “He didn’t like it, so he turned me over, put his arm around my neck and strangled me,” she said.

Hand suffered extensive bruises and scrapes on his body, including purple and blue bruises along his hands and wrists, a bloody scratch on his chest, and tenderness on his neck.

McGregor denied causing the bruises on his body and said they may have been caused during a ‘swan dive’ into the bathroom in his hotel room.

The court heard Hand suffered serious physical and psychological injuries as a result of McGregor’s attack and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Hand was taken by ambulance to Rotunda Hospital the next day, where she was evaluated in the sexual assault treatment unit (SATU).

The paramedic who examined Hand the day after the attack told the court he had not seen ‘someone this injured’ in a long time.

Hand broke down several times while testifying over nearly three days and seeking recess several times.

The jury was told Hand was forced to quit his job as a hairdresser and his relationship with his partner ended months after the incident, while he was unable to work due to mental health issues and had to move out of his home in 2017. Drimnagh and its mortgage are now in arrears.

She also said she had to stop seeing a counselor because she could no longer pay for the sessions.

The court also heard he spent more than 4,000 euros (£3,326.54) on GP, ​​pharmacy and psychotherapist fees.
