St. Petersburg man accused of stabbing victim in chest at public library

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — St. A St. Petersburg man is accused of stabbing a victim near the heart at a public library Friday afternoon.

According to the arrest affidavit, Tavaris Cunningham, 28, of St. He began “acting erratically” while sitting next to the victim in the computer area at the Mirror Lake Public Library, located at 2805th Street North in St. Pete.

When the victim asked Cunningham to calm down, he pulled a knife from the bag. Authorities said Cunningham stabbed the man in the upper right breast.

Cunningham, St. “I stabbed him in the heart,” Pete told police. “I stabbed him in the waist, that means 25 years of life.”

The victim also had cuts on his left thigh and left hand, the affidavit said.

“I stabbed him in the hip because he attacked me,” Cunningham added.

The injured person is being treated, but his current condition is unknown.

Cunningham faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder, according to the affidavit. He is being held without bail.
