Can Auburn Keep 2 Key Commitments from Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss?

auburn football It enters today’s matchup against Texas A&M with a 4-6 record. The Tigers need a win to keep their Cup hopes alive and prevent two of their prospects from signing with Ole Miss.

Tigers already lost cornerback Dante Core to Rebels. They are one of the hottest teams in college football because Kiffin’s squad is attracting the attention of the College Football Playoff Committee and Dixie prospects. Playing Texas A&M today is a chance for Auburn to build on its own momentum.

One of the keys to Auburn pulling off the upset will be: keeping the crowd engaged from the beginning to the fourth quarter. Jordan-Hare Stadium is a daunting road environment. Tiger loyalists often make a difference.

If Auburn’s offense leads to big plays, especially in the early part of the contest, expect the Tigers to be involved the entire game because the crowd will go crazy.

Perhaps the raucous environment will do more than just keep the current Auburn players motivated and battle-ready. If Auburn fails 15th place Texas A&M would be a great selling point for Hugh Freeze and his team, with 2025 commitments still being considered over offers from Ole Miss.

The Tigers beating the Aggies could help keep the following two candidates on the recruiting roster.

Jared SmithDefensive End, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson

An important member Auburn’s 2025 recruiting classSmith is a great prospect. 247 Sports has him as the No. 2 defenseman and No. 25 prospect regardless of his standing nationally. There are offers from all over the country, but the Rebels have all ears. Inside the Rebels Writer David Johnson predicts Smith will move from Auburn to Ole Miss. johnson.

“Sources say Inside the Rebels “Smith is certainly aware of the success other linebackers at Ole Miss have had this season, and that has become extremely appealing to him.” wrote Johnson.

Ole Miss’ defensive line is tremendous. So is the pass rush in general. Leads the country with 46 sacks. This is clearly a selling point for Ole Miss with Smith. Program stability also makes sense as to why Smith would sign with the Rebels, according to Johnson.

“Yes, Smith is from the state of Alabama and there’s always that urge to ‘stay home’ and play for your state. But while the Auburn program is in turmoil, Ole Miss looks to be on solid footing with head coach Lane Kiffin.”

Of course, Kiffin is also arguably the top name on every athletic director’s call list at programs historically bigger than Ole Miss, like the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles.

It would be great if Smith watched Auburn’s crowd come to life and the defensive front dismantle an Aggies front that had already allowed 16 sacks. Bottom line: Auburn needs Smith in its recruiting class.

Double KnightQuarterback, Lucedale (Miss) George County

Knight, the nation’s No. 2 point guard by both ESPN And competitors. It’s important to note that He fits well into Auburn’s offensive philosophy and Knight is an explosive run-pass threat.

While Knight often attends Auburn’s home games, Ole Miss beat Georgia It shows he’s not fully committed to the Tigers. In this age of recruiting, this is of course normal, but that doesn’t mean it’s something to shrug off. Could Knight be intrigued by Ole Miss’ success on the field?

Ole Miss is currently the 9th ranked team in the Playoff Committee. rebels The offense is producing 40.7 points per game and quarterback Jaxson Dart is throwing for 340.9 yards per contest. That appeals to Knight, or just about any young quarterback.

Now is the time for Auburn’s offense to play more consistently, and doing so against the Aggies will help solidify Knight’s commitment to the Tigers. Also, it doesn’t hurt to see Rebels struggle against improved Florida Gators defense in the swamp today.

Against A&M, Auburn’s offense has a lot of potential NFL players on defense. This is especially true on the defensive front defensive end Nic Scourton shows the way. He has 31 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.

If Payton Thorne can handle the pressure from the Aggies front and get strikeouts on players like Cam Coleman, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Malcolm Simmons, it will give the Tigers a chance to take on the Aggies. This should also pique Knight’s interest and perhaps convince him to sign with Auburn on National Signing Day, Dec. 4.

Kiffin is going after two of Auburn’s best recruits. Today is Auburn’s chance to beat Texas A&M and keep Smith and Knight on the recruiting roster.
