Speaking at the first Women in Chemical Sciences Conference in Accra, she said this involves identifying and developing individual talents for this purpose.

“We hope that this meeting and the discourse here will bring a shift in our perspective on the potential of women in the chemical sciences, their roles in leadership, research and innovation, and the need to leverage these strengths for a better world.” he said.

The Women in Chemical Sciences Conference brought together scientists, researchers and industry stakeholders from around the world to celebrate and empower women in this field.

The event is spearheaded by the Women in Chemistry Network and its mission is to build capacity and create visibility for women in the field.

Themed “Empowering and Celebrating Women in the Chemical Sciences: A Catalyst for Innovative Leadership,” the event was a hybrid gathering of in-person and virtual participants.

Participants were presented with panel discussions, oral and poster presentations.

“We have a total of fifty (50) abstracts for scientific oral and poster presentations. “In all these interactions, we will explore cutting-edge research, innovative practices and policy initiatives supported by our presenters,” said Prof. Asantewah Nkansah.

Prof. Asantewah Nkansah thanked sponsors and partners, including WASCAL, IUPAC, OWSD and the Elsevier Foundation, for their unwavering commitment to the advancement of women in the chemical sciences.
