Home invasion suspect sentenced to life in prison without parole in Cobb County man’s death

Aiden Shaw shot and killed in Acworth apartment four months ago. Four people have been arrested since his death.

This week, Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. Rodney Jacob Sanders, 26, was found guilty of multiple charges, including one count of involuntary manslaughter, five counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of attempted home invasion. first degree, single count conspiracy to commit home invasion, first degree, single count criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, single count conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first degree burglary, one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.

In May 2023, Sanders and three others, 20-year-old Jaiden Colon-Crawford, 18-year-old David Travis, and 22-year-old Cibias Vieira, broke into Shaw’s home while he was not there.

After the initial burglary, Sanders returned to the residence under the pretext of assisting with door repairs needed due to the break-in. The district attorney’s office said Sanders passed information to accomplices while pretending to help.

Three hours later, four suspects entered the home while Shaw was inside with his girlfriend. While leaning against the door and trying to block the entrance, he told his girlfriend to “get your gun.”

Three accomplices testified against Sanders, stating that he was the gang leader in the attempted robbery.

Vieira was sentenced to 35 years in prison, including 25 years in prison; Travis has been in office for 35 years, 25 of them in office; and Crawford will serve 20 years, 15 of them in office.
