Police issue update on Edgbaston murder as detectives continue to hunt gunman

West Midlands Police have issued a murder investigation update after a man was found fatally shot in a car. Detectives continue to hunt for a gunman following a shocking attack in Edgbaston.

Emergency services responded to reports that two men had been shot at Rotton Park Road, near the junction with City Road. edgbastonJust before 23:00 on Friday, November 22nd. A man in his 20s was found inside the car but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family is supported by specialist support workers.

Another man in his 30s was found injured at the bus stop and remains in hospital. A man in his 30s who was initially arrested on suspicion of murder has now been “released without further investigation”, police said. Police confirmed to BirminghamLive that the man had been excluded from investigations.

Police continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have received dashcam footage or mobile phone footage from the area at the time, to contact them. Power created something online portal where you can directly upload your footage.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, from the force’s Homicide squad, said: “This was a tragic incident and we are working rapidly to understand exactly what happened. The shooting took place near the busy junction on City Road and that may have been the case. You have information that may help our investigation progress. If so , please contact us urgently.”
