Miami-Dade felon on parole faces more than 50 charges including cyberstalking after chaotic police chase

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Court records show a 41-year-old convicted felon arrested Sunday in Miami-Dade County following a police chase that included multiple car crashes facing more than 50 charges.

According to Florida Department of Corrections records, Kevin P. Prater was a drug offender who was on probation from Aug. 8, 2023, to Aug. 7, 2033, after being convicted of theft while driving GMC Sonoma away from police. on wednesday In Miami-Dade.

According to Miami-Dade Police Department spokesman Detective Andre Martin, Prater collided with both civilian and police cars near Southwest 41 Street and 72 Avenue and “showed no respect for anyone’s safety, including his own father. There was a passenger in that vehicle.”

Homeland Security and MDPD were involved in the case. Inmate records show Miami-Dade corrections officers booked Prater into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center shortly after 2:40 p.m. Saturday, and Prater remained there Sunday morning.

In the ongoing case before the police chase, Prater faced 18 charges: three written threats to kill or cause bodily injury; three counts of aggravated stalking; three counts of aggravated stalking, harassment or cyberstalking; three counts of cyber intimidation or threat; three counts of cyber intimidation or incitement of violence; and three counts of possession of personally identifiable information used for harassment purposes.

In the case that followed the police pursuit, Prater faces 31 charges: seven counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer; eight counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; aggravated assault on a person 65 or older; fleeing and evading a police officer; seven counts of resisting a police officer who used violence against his person; and seven counts of resisting a police officer without causing violence to his person.

The three arrest warrants were for probation violation, reckless driving and magistrate arrest.
