Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was sentenced to suspended imprisonment at the first hearing of the election law case, faced another “judicial risk” within 10 days.

The first hearing in the perjured teacher case will be held today (25th) and the prosecution has asked the court to sentence him to three years in prison, the highest limit in the sentencing criteria.

The first hearing in the case of CEO Lee Jae-myung’s perjured teacher will be held at Seoul Central District Court at 2 pm today (the 25th).

In connection with the so-called “prosecutor impersonation” case, Kim Jin-sung, former secretary of Seongnam Mayor Kim Byung-ryang, was charged with encouraging false testimony at the trial.

Since their indictments in October last year, the two sides have clashed violently in nine hearings.

The prosecution believes that Kim Jin-sung agreed to Lee’s request and testified positively in court.

Representative Lee, on the other hand, maintains his innocence, saying that he only told him to make a statement as he remembered it.

Lee faces five lawsuits, including the election law case that led to the second trial.

Among these, suspicion of perjury was cited as a case in which Kim Jin-sung pleaded guilty to all perjury charges and would likely end against CEO Lee.

The court also rejected an arrest warrant requested by the case against CEO Lee in September last year, but agreed that the perjured teacher was acquitted of the charge.

If Rep. Lee is sentenced to more than prison time, he will be ineligible to run in elections and lose his seat in parliament until the sentence expires.

At the last hearing, the prosecution demanded a three-year prison sentence for CEO Lee, saying that perjury is a serious crime that disrupts judicial order and causes social chaos.
