Two men convicted of rape in South Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Two men who raped a woman at a South Knoxville home have been convicted, Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen said.

According to Allen, a detective with the Knoxville Police Department went to a home on Woodlawn Pike on April 23, 2023, for a report of a rape.

The victim told the detective that while he was at Cotton Eyed Joe’s in Farragut, he was approached by 31-year-old Donjae Demarco Bell and 30-year-old Cornelius Alvino. Prosecutors said two men, the victim and another woman, drove to the home in an Uber, and Bell and Alvino raped the victim shortly after arriving.

An hour after the incident, the victim went to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for a sexual assault examination.

“I know how difficult it was for the victim to come forward and testify, but these criminals are being held accountable because of his bravery,” said Prosecutor Allen.

According to Allen, Bell was convicted of two counts of aggravated rape. His sentencing will be announced on January 10 and he faces up to 25 years in prison.

Alvino pleaded guilty to rape and a separate drug trafficking case and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
