1 person dead, 2 seriously injured in accident in Linn County

A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 228 in Linn County Friday evening.

Oregon State Police say a Dodge pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Michael Halsell of Sweet Home was traveling eastbound on the highway when he crossed into the westbound lane and struck the Acura SUV driven by Alisha Rowlett, also of Sweet Home. The accident occurred around 17:00 near milepost 16.

Rowlett, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger and Halsell were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation into the accident continues.
