An FIR was registered at Sambhal police station following violent clashes triggered by a poll at Jama Masjid in the area. Four people died and 21 people were injured in the incident, which resulted in stone throwing and police baton attacks. Following the chaos, police filed a complaint against local Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders, including MP Ziaur Rahman Barq and MLA Nawab Iqbal Mahmood’s son Nawab Suhail Iqbal, for allegedly conspiring to incite violence.

The violence came to light on Sunday morning when a team arrived to investigate the Jama Masjid. As soon as the team arrived on the field, a large crowd gathered, which quickly turned unruly. Wanting to control the situation, the police intervened with a baton, but the tension increased even more. The crowd started throwing stones at the police, leading to intense clashes. Four people died and 21 people were injured as a result of the violence. The deterioration of the situation caused the authorities to take immediate action.

Following the unrest, the district administration imposed restrictions on outsiders entering the region and ordered the closure of schools to prevent further escalation. Police detained 24 people in connection with the incident, while investigations are ongoing, including reviewing videos that may have contributed to inciting the violence.

The FIR filed against Ziaur Rahman Barq and Nawab Suhail Iqbal accuses them of a deliberate conspiracy to incite communal violence and recruit mobs. The case includes charges of inciting riots, organizing illegal meetings and disrupting order. Investigations into the involvement of other persons are also ongoing and law enforcement is examining the situation carefully.

As tensions remain high in Sambhal, authorities are monitoring developments closely, hoping to restore peace and prevent further unrest in the region.
