As Iran-Israel tensions escalate after the missile attacks, X suspended Iranian religious leader Khamenei’s new Hebrew account

As Iran-Israel tensions escalate after the missile attacks, X suspended Iranian religious leader Khamenei’s new Hebrew account

Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, suspended the Hebrew account of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday, hours after it was created. The account tagged @Khamenei_Heb said, “The Zionist regime made a mistake. He was wrong in his calculations regarding Iran. “We will ensure that the Iranian nation understands what kind of power, capability, initiative and will it has.” Now a message on X indicates that the account has been suspended for “violating X’s rules”.

One Day Account Closed Amid Controversial Post

Ayatollah Khamenei opened his Hebrew account on Saturday night and had a rare interaction with Israeli viewers. The account’s opening post, “In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful,” appeared shortly before it was suspended. Hours later, Khamenei’s message criticizing Israel was removed and there was no immediate response from X. While X’s rules ban content from “violent and hateful organizations,” exceptions are allowed for certain state or government organizations, which has raised questions about X’s stance on Khamenei’s post.

Israel’s Responses and Responses to Issue X

Following Khamenei’s initial post, Israeli emergency response agency ZAKA responded with a line from the Jewish Kaddish prayer for the dead. This response, meant as a subtle message hinting at the end of Khamenei, underlined the rising tensions. Khamenei’s Hebrew message was later republished on the official English account Khamenei.ir, which has more than one million followers. The English post used the same warning tone towards Israel.

Israel’s Attack on Iranian Military Targets

The suspension of Khamenei’s account came after Israeli airstrikes on many Iranian military sites. The operation, dubbed “Days of Regret”, took place on Saturday morning and involved a series of targeted attacks on Iran’s drone and missile production facilities. According to US and Israeli officials, more than 20 strategic targets were hit, causing serious damage to Iran’s missile and unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities. These attacks were partly in retaliation for the October 1 incident, in which Tehran launched 180 ballistic missiles at Israel and triggered 1,800 rocket sirens in Israeli territory.

Reports show Iran is preparing for Khamenei’s accession to the throne

Amidst this escalating conflict, reports have emerged suggesting that Iran may be preparing for Ayatollah Khamenei’s accession to the throne. Khamenei, now 85, is reportedly facing serious health problems, leading to widespread speculation about who could succeed him as Iran’s Supreme Leader. The New York Times reported on Saturday that discussions about possible successors to Khamenei have intensified, adding a new layer of tension to an already complex geopolitical landscape.

There has been no official comment from either Iranian or Israeli officials regarding the suspension of Khamenei’s account on X, nor have there been updates on the results of Israel’s latest airstrikes.
