Obituary of Barbara Taylor Bradford: A notable writer

Robert Bradford played a large role in his wife’s business and credited her with guiding his career. In addition to making screen versions of his wife’s stories, he also loved being involved in their promotions.

He was the first person to receive a full-page ad in the back page of the New York Times Art section.

Robert also liked to buy her gifts, especially jewelry, at least five items a year. He also accumulated countless bags.

When Robert died after suffering a stroke in 2019, Bradford was completely devastated.

“We were each other’s everything” he said., external “But I must go on. Bob always thought I was a strong woman. He liked strong women; he never had time for those fragile little blondes.”

She had auctioned off some jewelry pieces in 2013, and after Bradford’s death and her move to a smaller flat, she sold more, saying she didn’t have enough room.

Eventually, Bradford found some solace in returning to her favorite original characters and announced that she was writing the prequel to A Woman of Substance; this time focused on Emma Harte’s great friend, Shane “Blackie” O’Neill.

Quoted in the book’s press release, Bradford said: “After my beloved husband Bob Bradford died over the summer, Blackie O’Neill came back to my mind.
