Hitman Studio IO Interactive to Stop Collaborating with Conor McGregor After Rape Case Verdict

Hitman Studio IO Interactive to Stop Collaborating with Conor McGregor After Rape Case Verdict

IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, has ended its collaboration with MMA fighter Conor McGregor. This decision follows the Irish Supreme Court ruling last week, which found McGregor guilty of assaulting and raping a woman in December 2018.

The decision to cut ties follows IO Interactive’s recent collaboration with McGregor, who was introduced as a character called “The Disruptor” in the Hitman series. It was announced as one of the game’s new Hard Goals. However, all McGregor-related DLC and content will now be discontinued and previously released material will also be cancelled.

IO Interactive released a statement via its social media channels this afternoon. Open X/TwitterThe company wrote: “In light of the recent court decision regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has decided to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore the consequences. As a result, we will cease all content featuring Mr. McGregor from today.” “We will start removing it from our showcases from now on.”

However, IO Interactive has not yet clarified its status for players who have already purchased The Disruptor DLC. It remains unclear whether existing content will remain accessible. Usually purchased content is usually stored by users, but we are waiting for official confirmation. For now, players can continue to enjoy Hitman without DLC.

Also the court ordered McGregor will pay at least €248,000 in damages. McGregor has announced his intention to appeal, but an appeal date has not yet been set. It is unclear how IO Interactive will react if the decision is overturned.
