Colorado Parks and Wildlife will award up to ,000 to startups promoting the ‘Born to Be Wild’ specialty license plate

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently announced the ‘Wildborn License Plate Grant Program.’ The program will provide up to $50,000 in funding to startups promoting license plates.

According to CPW, grant awards will be awarded each year to Colorado-based nonprofits, educational institutions or government agencies. Other organizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The application deadline is December 15. Award winners will be announced in March.

Colorado House Bill 23-1265 creates a new specialty license plate that funds nonlethal ways to alleviate conflict with gray wolves. The special plate was approved by Governor Polis in May 2023 and came into force in August of the same year.

“The Born to Be Wild license plate will help Colorado continue to reduce human-wildlife conflict and promote education and awareness around our great state. I appreciate the work of the legislators who made this possible and look forward to seeing the impact of this important funding,” said Governor Jared Polis. .

Awards of anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000 will be awarded this grant cycle. The amount awarded will depend on the project’s alignment with program priorities and the availability of funds.
