Teen arrested in brutal beating in San Mateo County

MOSS BEACH, California. – 17-year-old teenager arrested after violent attack Seaweed Beach authorities said early Monday.

The assault occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Barranca Lane; where San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies found an 18-year-old with serious facial and head injuries.

Investigators said a girl was in her room when she jumped out an open window screaming for help after running away from an acquaintance, according to the sheriff’s office.

A few minutes later, the suspect also jumped out the window and attacked the victim with a blunt object, causing serious facial injuries, authorities said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the suspect, a 17-year-old San Francisco boy, was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.

Authorities did not say what led to the incident but said the victim and suspect knew each other.
