CID busts cyber conspiracy targeting Atif Aslam concert in Dhaka

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Arif Arman (30) for his involvement in a significant cyber attack that resulted in the breach of sensitive customer data on the Ticket Tomorrow platform. The data leak occurred on October 23 this year, exposing personal information including names, addresses and contact details of customers who purchased tickets for Pakistani singer Atif Aslam’s upcoming concert.

The attack, intended to discredit Triple Time Communications and its event partner Ticket Tomorrow, was allegedly an attempt to sabotage the high-profile “Magical Night 2.0” concert, a press release said.

The concert planned to be held at Bangladesh Army Stadium on November 29 is expected to attract great interest from the public. Besides Bangladesh’s own Tahsan Khan and the popular band Kaaktaal, Pakistani rising artist Abdul Hannan will also take the stage with Atif at the upcoming concert.

According to CID’s Cyber Intelligence and Risk Team, Arif Arman used Adventor Global Ltd. to carry out the cyber attack. He collaborated with Mozammel Haque Johny, its President, and Abdullah Al Mamun, Tickify’s Chief Technology Officer. The trio admitted in a recorded conversation that the breach was an act of retaliation aimed at disrupting the success of the event and damaging the reputation of the companies involved.

Criminals exfiltrated data using fake accounts, and investigators suspect that Adventor Global Ltd and other partners and employees of Tickify were also involved. CID officials stated that the conspiracy was motivated by jealousy and professional rivalry.

During Arman’s arrest on November 24, CID officers seized several devices, including laptops, phones and external hard drives, which were allegedly used in carrying out the cybercrime. These devices are currently under forensic analysis.

“We are grateful to our team for quickly resolving this sensitive issue and ensuring public confidence in the face of such malicious activity,” a CID spokesperson said. he said.

The breach raised significant concerns about data security and the ethical responsibilities of technology and event management companies in Bangladesh. As the investigation progresses, additional arrests and legal actions may follow that will hold those involved accountable.

Ticket to Tomorrow and Three Time Communications have reassured customers that steps have been taken to strengthen safety protocols and ensure such incidents do not occur again.
