‘All your experiments have failed’: TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee slams Congress, puts forward Mamata as INDIA bloc leader

The Congress has come under fire after surprise defeats in Haryana and Maharashtra. After Congress’ back-to-back defeats, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee asked the Congress to “put its ego aside” and recognize Mamata Banerjee as the leader of the INDIA bloc. “Congress could not achieve the desired result in either Haryana or Maharashtra,” Banerjee said while speaking to news agency ANI.

“We had great hope from the Congress that they would do better. If they had done better, BJP and Narendra Modi would have been under pressure. There is an INDIA alliance but the expected result was not achieved. And there is a big failure. “It is the duty of the Congress to achieve the result,” the TMC MP said.

Referring to the Maharashtra elections where NCP and Congress performed poorly, Banerjee said Sharad Parad also failed to do what was expected of him. Sharad Pawar’s NCP could win only 10 seats; Congress won 16 of the 101 seats it contested. “Today, if you really want to fight against the BJP and Narendra Modi, the INDIA alliance needs to be stronger. And a leader is needed to strengthen it. Who can be the leader now? That is the basic question.” he said and suggested that Mamata Banerjee could be the leader to defeat Prime Minister Modi.

“Congress did this. All experiments were done but they failed. Other leaders also tried and failed. The remaining three are there; Stalin, Hemant Soren and Mamata Didi. Of these three, Mamata Ji has vast experience. She is a 7-time MP in parliamentary politics , is a cabinet minister, 3-time chief minister, his best record is to eliminate CPM in West Bengal,” the TMC MP said, adding that the Congress should protect its ego. put it aside and accept it as it is INDIA bloc leader.

The Congress was expected to win the Haryana assembly polls outright, but the BJP bagged the state for another term. Maharashtra, where the opposition performed better in the Lok Sabha elections, was also expected to join the MVA. However, the ruling Mahayuti turned the tables in just five months and retained the state in a major victory.

Banerjee criticized the Congress for its election defeat in Maharashtra. He emphasized the need for “united and determined” leadership to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He said Mamata Banerjee’s “proven leadership and grassroots connect” made her the “most suitable” figure for the INDIA alliance.

“Congress and other opposition parties should accept their failure in the last elections and prioritize unity over individual ambitions. They should keep their egos aside and accept Mamata Banerjee as the leader of the INDIA bloc,” he said while speaking in Serampore in Hooghly district. Sunday.

The Congress’ election losses continued its worst-ever performance in Maharashtra, making it a distant junior partner of the ruling JMM in Jharkhand and contributing to its diminishing influence within the opposition bloc.
