2 people arrested after seriously injured person

Two people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after one person was seriously injured.

Essex Police said the incident happened in Howard Close, Waltham Abbey, at around 15:30 GMT on Sunday.

It was learned that the injured person’s condition was serious but not life-threatening and he was taken to hospital. He remained there on Tuesday.

Police said a 54-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were released on bail until February 18 after being questioned.

Det Insp Chris Rose said officers were working “around the clock” to establish how the man was injured.

“If you know anything about this incident and have not spoken to us, I encourage you to come forward and help,” he added.
