New Valenzuela judge to handle Guo’s corruption case

MANILA, Philippines — Valenzuela City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Orven Ontalan will take up the corruption case filed against deposed Bamban and Tarlac mayor Alice Guo. The hearing is scheduled for November 8, 2024.

The case was previously presented to Judge Elena Amigo-Amano of RTC Branch 282, but she refrained from participating in the criminal case.

Guo, who posted P540,000 bail, was charged with two corruption charges for allegedly using his position to obtain permits for the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator headquarters in his town.

The Supreme Court had previously ruled to transfer corruption cases from Capas, Tarlac to Valenzuela.

Guo was detained in the Pasig City Jail for aggravated trafficking, a non-bailable offense.
