Police are looking for the duo for murder and rape

Two men wanted by police were captured during an operation at Kairuni Backdam on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Saturday afternoon.

According to a police press release issued by the Guyana Police Force, Ghanie Jamie, 26, of South Sophia, Georgetown, and Hansi Jones, 27, also of Sophia, were wanted on serious charges. The first is about murder allegations and the second is about three separate child rapes.

The statement stated that around 16:00, police officers, acting on reliable information, descended on the place where the suspects were believed to be hiding. While the individuals who noticed the police tried to escape from the scene, a chase ensued on foot. It was stated that Jones was caught after falling to the ground, while Jamie was caught approximately 25 meters away.
