Domestic search leads to drug and assault charges for Emporium woman | WTAJ

EMPORIUM, Pa. (WTAJ) — A domestic 911 call led to drug and assault charges against an Emporium woman, according to a police report.

Kayla Nicole Elaschat, 33, faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and drug possession after police were called for allegedly shooting a man with a pellet gun on Nov. 20.

According to the criminal complaint, Emporium police were dispatched to a home on S. Maple Street for a report of a man with a gun. When they arrived, Brad Misfud Jr. was standing on the front porch. They found a man named Elaschat, who had a bleeding wound on his neck, which he claimed had been caused by Elaschat, who had shot him in the back with a pellet gun. He also claimed there were drugs in the house and that if police officers had looked at Elaschat’s phone, they “could have seen them all.”

Police spoke to Elashchat, who claimed Misfud broke into the home and began destroying items belonging to him, including a Macbook. Police noted that the woman said she had blood on her hand and that it was Misfud’s blood from where she scratched her neck. Police added that red marks were also found where he caught him.

Elaschat was detained and searched. A state police trooper found a small white bag containing pot and pieces of pills, matching what Misfud said on the porch, according to the complaint.

Officers obtained a search warrant following Elaschat’s arrest, where they found several smoking devices containing residue and a baggie containing 6.9 grams of white powder in her purse. Officers allegedly saw Elaschat’s phone on the table and seized it until another search warrant could be obtained. Police stated that they thought the evidence on the phone could have been destroyed if it had not been seized at that time.

The complaint stated that a search of the phone revealed numerous messages with people regarding purchasing drugs from Elaschat.

Misfud was charged with theft and later released on bail. However, after a search at the house, many more accusations were made against Elaschat. He was booked into the McKean County Jail, with bail set at $50,000.
